After staying a bit too long finishing a giant glass of 'housewine' at The Hatchet, we missed the support band - The lyrebirds, but just knew The Maccabees would be enough for our night! As soon as they started, the sea of young Emos at the front began bobbing in time and at a great speed - and the rest of us joined in too. This was to stay the same throughout the set. There was no fancy lighting, no gimmicks and no cheesy lines, just good, honest, rock-pop hits from start to end. The crowd were sucked right in and even the few technical hitches (which were sincerely apologised for) didn't alter the mood. There was no encore, just a great, quality performance from beginning to end. The fab foursome really showed Bristol what they have got, and The UK's new favourite band could quite possibly be my new favourite. The Maccabees do not disappoint!
